Reflection And Self Reflection - 1648 Words

Reflection is not only about pondering over past event and related to it emotions, actions, thoughts, or approaches, but also about interpreting everything for the purpose of learning from it and understanding it better. Reflection shall help individuals to challenge themselves, their behaviors, and feelings. The aim is to be more critical about own experiences and own persona, to think about person’s strong and weak sides (Paterson, Chapman, 2013). To reflect on my feelings, thoughts and work during this module, the Gibbs’s (1998) Reflective cycle helped me a lot. It is made of 6 stages: Description – ‘What happened?’, Feelings – ‘What was I feeling and thinking?’, Evaluation – ‘What was good and bad about the experience?’, Analysis –†¦show more content†¦The reason of that is because each seminar session taught me something new about counselling, coaching, and mentoring, and showed me which p ersonality traits or attitudes good helper should have, why they are doing it and how is it helpful, which cooperate with my own values and beliefs. For example, one of my values is ‘making difference’ and it is one of the core factors of CCM as well as I believed that I can development my own growth by helping someone or making him/her happy. This is why I really liked the Week 10th - The Reflective Practitioner when we were given the ‘defining your values’ tool, which helped me to think more about my own person, who I am and what path I should choose to be the happiest. It helps me decided that working with children in the future and helping them is the thing I want to do. Additionally, I believe I am a good listener. I have always liked to listen to other people, their problems, emotions, and try to help them. Many people told me that they like to talk with me because they feel like I genuinely care about them and will really listen to their worries. At some point in my second year, there were around 8 different people within 2 weeks who came to me personally to talk with me and seek some advices. Although, this meant taking them through multiple emotions, I felt quite content with myself as I was able to guide them.
